about

David Marquette was born in Northern California but spent most of his childhood in Northwest Montana, where music became a central part of his life. Growing up with vinyl albums, 8-tracks, cassette tapes, and the early days of MTV, David found solace and inspiration in music. After high school, he moved back to California, where he started singing and playing bass in a cover band, eventually writing songs both solo and collaboratively.

Seeking greater opportunities, David relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area in the late 1980s. There, he formed several original bands, playing extensively throughout the region. By day, he worked in construction, which eventually led to studio remodeling and construction projects during the colder months. This work connected him to the world of professional recording equipment, sparking a new passion for audio engineering and studio production.

In 1994, David founded Marquette Audio Labs, focusing on vintage audio gear. This venture evolved into the creation of the Mercury Recording Equipment Company in 1999, where he developed new versions of classic recording equipment from defunct companies like Telefunken/Siemens, Pultec, Langevin, and Fairchild.

David's journey took a significant turn with the birth of his son, Dylan, in 1995. Balancing fatherhood with his business pursuits, he continued to innovate in the audio engineering field while also returning to his musical roots. In 2018, David began a new recording project, David Marquette & Dragonfly Crow, assembling a talented group of musicians to bring his latest musical vision to life.

Despite a cancer diagnosis in 2019 and subsequent chemotherapy, David's resilience and passion for music remained strong. Now in remission, he continues to work on his music and looks forward to completing and sharing his latest album project.
